Privacy policy

This policy covers the private Home Assistant connection to Google Nest described on the home page. It is used by one household, for its own devices, and is not offered to anyone else.

What data is accessed

With the account owner's consent, the connection accesses Google Nest device data through the Smart Device Management API: device names and locations within the home, sensor readings such as temperature and humidity, thermostat modes and setpoints, and device events. Camera or doorbell streams and event clips are accessed only if the owner chooses to grant them.

How the data is used

The data is used only to display and automate the household's own devices inside its own Home Assistant system. It is not used for advertising, profiling or any purpose unrelated to operating those devices.

Where the data goes

Data received from Google is stored on the household's own Home Assistant hardware on its home network, and in that system's own encrypted backups. It is not sold, rented, shared with or transferred to any third party. No analytics or tracking runs on this site, and this site collects nothing from visitors.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention and deletion

Device history is kept for as long as the household chooses to keep it in Home Assistant and can be deleted there at any time. Access can be revoked at any moment from the Google Account permissions page at myaccount.google.com/permissions or in the Google Home app, after which no further data is received.
